Last Thursday, 13 November 2025, nearly 30 Rotary Melbourne members, friends, and partners attend the special evening gathering in celebration of World Kindness Day and the 25th anniversary of the Hush Foundation. Hosted at Wingate Capital, Level 48, 101 Collins Street, Melbourne, this event brought together Rotary Melbourne members and leaders from Melbourne’s healthcare community to honour Hush’s inspiring work in fostering kindness and wellbeing across hospitals and care settings. In a packed program we:
· Were welcomed by Hush’s Deputy Board Chair Lara Giddings,
· Were entertained by master communicator, and MC Andrew Gill;
· Enjoyed music by the Lumina String Quartet, led by Zoe Knighton (Cellist);
· Heard from the Chris Massis CEO of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators of the compelling impact of Hush ‘s work
· Heard President Philip Cornish pay generous tribute to the Hush Foundation’s 25 years of transforming healthcare through kindness, music and storytelling, recognising its impact on patients, families and clinicians, and commended Dr the movement she sparked to bring compassion into hospitals and healthcare culture.
· Heard Alastair Ewart of Cath Crock’s ability to profoundly improve patient experience in trying circumstances that faced his daughter as a child being treated for Leukaemia
· Were serenaded by the RMH Scrub Choir, led by Emma O’Brien and finally Dr Catherine Crock herself who spoke from the heart of the strong sense of support she received over the years, which was reflected at this event
All of this while sharing light refreshments high above the city as we reflected on the power of compassion in healthcare and beyond.
Subhajit Chowhury presented President Philip with a small gift from Rotary Calcutta.
