MONASH MEDAL 2018 - TIM FISCHER AC

Tim Fischer AC was awarded the Monash Medal for 2018 at our luncheon meeting. He is seen here with Chair Peter Davis, Michael Bennett (Great Grandson of Sir John Monash) , President Robert Fisher, (Tim Fischer AC with Citation and Medal).

100TH YEAR COMMEMORATION OF BATTLE OF AMIENS

Thank you to Peter Davis for providing a beautiful piece on the 100th Commemoration of Battle of Amiens organised by our 0808 Committee.  The photo shows Melbourne Chamber Choir led by David Kram presenting excerpts from Monash Cantata at our Shrine of Remembrance on 8.8.2018 @ at 8.00 am.

SHINE ON RECOGNITIONS 2019

Cynthia Edgell who has promoted our "Shine On" Recognitions for past few years,  is encouraging us all to consider nominations for next year's Award.  Our Club has an excellent record of identifying and honouring the abilities of those with a disability and we are seeking your consideration for nominations.

 

 

 

HELP END POLIO with SMARTIES

Recently, DG Bronwyn Stephens and PP Quin Scalzo handed out jars of Smarties.  Not just to enjoy but to fill with coins.  Every $100 raised with a Special District DDF and Foundation contribution and a 2:1 match by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will raise $1,000 for End Polio.  

  1. Enjoy the Smarties!
  2. Fill the jar with gold coins ($1/$2)!
  3. You will Raise around $200 once full!
  4. Hand your jar into the Rotary Office before end 2018!
  5. Jo will record and pass funds on to District Rotary Foundation!!!!!!!

MULTI DISTRICT CONFERENCE 2019

Hope you have noted the dates:  15, 16 & 17 February, 2019 for our Multi District Conference.  Early Bird Registration is now open.

 

 

 

INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT'S BREAKFAST

Members of Rotary Club of Melbourne are invited to attend the International President’s Breakfast organised by the Rotary Club of Brighton North where Past President of Rotary International, Ian Riseley OAM will be the guest speaker.  Ian’s topic is “Why good people should want to be Rotarians”.  This is a significant event supporting two worthy causes, let's get a couple of tables organised!

 

 

AROUND THE BAY - RAFFLE TICKETS

Members, please note that your sold Raffle tickets and money need to be returned by 12.00 pm 22 August in time for the drawing of the $2,000 Prize at the lunch meeting.  If you missed out and want some tickets give Jo a call and you can purchase on the phone.
