Typhoon Mangkhut, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Ompong, was a strong typhoon which struck the Northern Philippines islands on 14 September 2018 with disastrous flooding.  Thanks to Bob Glindemann, Ruth Carlos Martinez and Members,  a call to action was undertaken successfully.

James Pullar has provided this update on fantastic work in our Club's successful lobbying for young people in foster and institutional care to be 21 years and not 18 years when support and services are removed from them.

2019 MULTI DISTRICT CONFERENCE

As you are aware, four of Victoria’s Rotary Districts have combined to stage the Multi-District Conference between 15 and 17 February, 2019 at the Melbourne Convention Centre.  This is a full month earlier than this year’s Conference and is less than 5 months away so the Early Bird Offer is a great option.

MEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

Last week was an exciting week in the Rotary Victoria Police Leaders' Mentoring Program.  Our three Mentors, Maryla Juchnowski, Graham O'Donnell and Dorothy Gilmour and their Mentees met with Victoria Police Command, Rotary District Governors, LMP Steering Committee and Rotary Club Central Melbourne to celebrate the completion of the mentoring program for 2017/18.  

We congratulate Ludovic Grosjean of the Melbourne City Rotaract Club who was announced by RI President Barry Rassin as one of the six Global People of Action: Young Innovators.

Rotary Central Melbourne's annual Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Breakfast is to be held on Wednesday 28^th November 2018.  Air Chief Marshal Sir Angus Houston AK, AFC (Ret'd) will be speaking at the Paul Harris Society event.

Rotary Prahran's PP Susie Cole is promoting a walking event on Sunday, 18 November which all Members are welcome.  "Prance in the Park" invites us to sponsor a Prince, Princess or favourite Punk, push, walk, run 5 kms. around Albert Park Lake to support the End Polio campaign.  https://endpolioprance.raiseley.com
