UPDATES FROM 2018

At our Festive Luncheon Meeting in December,  it was fantastic to congratulate Cynthia Edgell for her well-deserved naming as a Paul Harris Fellow.  Cynthia's support and energy in so many areas of Rotary and our Club has been sensational.

President Robert has sent us a delightful letter of appreciation and Brazilian newspaper article from Manoel Felipe Martins Marques, honorary member of Rotary Club Cruzeiro (2) who visited our Festive lunch meeting in December.  

Editor received the following report from our inspirational Ruth Carlos Martinez outlining the RCM and Donations in Kind assistance we provided to the typhoon affected Philippines late last year.

Visiting R C Central Melbourne's Christmas Meeting, President Neville Taylor spoke warmly about attending our launch of 'Ignite' at Arts Access Victoria. In fact he leased the painting "I Ride My Wheelchair on Our Ancestors' Land" by Greg Muir which was on display (see photo). It normally hangs in Neville's Victoria Police Office.

CLUB REMINDERS

On-to-Conference: The Tradition continues Tuesday to Friday, 12-15 February, 2019.  Read on for the fantastic schedule of events dosed with food and wine - plus friendship and fun (at no cost!) Photo shows previous merry travellers.

This year's Multi District Conference is the perfect place to showcase our Club's many terrific Projects.  Our R100 Committee will be showcasing End Trachoma by 2020,  Rotary UNICEF "Give Every Child a Future",  Rotary Safe Families and Working with Child Trauma,  Peace Forum 2021 and hopefully,  International Conference Melbourne 2023!  We are showcasing to initiate support and awareness from all Rotary Districts.  Please join us in this mission.

It was with great sadness President Robert advised us that Lawton Cooke died on Friday 22 December. 

VALE PAUL HENNINGHAM - FOUNDER OF ROTARY DOWN UNDER One of the true legends of Rotary in Australia, Past District Governor Paul Henningham OAM died at his home in Springwood on Sunday, December 2nd - aged 97 years.
