Thanks to Rob McGuirk for so much fascinating history of youth hostels through the many international decades.  Memories were activated as we recalled our own travels and youth hostel stories.  What a tremendous organisation International Hostelling is today filling the needs of travellers of any age providing comfort, friendship and safety to world travellers.

CLUB EVENT & REMINDERS

Thank you Ted and Maree Garland for organising a terrific day of friendship, smiles and exotic beasts!  President Robert and Myra, Peter Berg and Camille, Dorothy Gilmour and their grandchildren enjoyed meeting some of our newest Australians. Pic shows us swapping phone numbers.

The Breakfast topic for discussion at this year's IWD Breakfast:  "Let's Work Together: Celebrating Difference" will be discussed and explored by high profile presenters and Moderator, Catherine Fox (pictured).

Our Club's next Evening Meeting will be presented by Dr. Kaushik Sridhar,  Sustainability Leader | Board Member | University Lecturer | Public Speaker | Former Professional Athlete.  It will be a fascinating discussion and presentation 26 February.

We are thrilled to announce that this year's Angus Mitchell Oration is to be presented by Tilman Ruff MB, BS (Hons), FRACP, AM, speaking on "The Humanitarian Imperative to Eliminate Nuclear Weapons".  We are providing our Members the time to Diarise the date:  Wednesday, 20 February AND organise your guests to this very special oration.

The R100 Team is busy creating a showcase of Projects, Thought Starters and Invitations for all Rotary Clubs to become involved in 100 year Celebrations in 2021.   

Save the Date!  The Arts Committee has announced their Symphonic Celebration at Myer Music Bowl is a free concert and we are all invited.  At 6.00 pm, bring your family and picnic on the lawns before the concert commences at 7.30 pm.  Gates open at 4.30 pm.

Our Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, AK MC, recently appointed 19 members to the Veterans’ Review Board. Our congratulations to our esteemed Member Dr Peter Habersberger AM RFD, for his appointmet to the Veterans' Review Board.

Congratulations to two Members who have been recognised in this year's Australia Day Honours.  David Inglis AM and Stephanie Woollard OAM.
