SHANI CAIN - CEO OAKTREE

The Club was fortunate to have Shani Cain present to the members and guests today. Shani is the recently appointed CEO of the Oaktree Foundation (Oaktree.org) and spoke to the topic of Empowering and Enabling Youth.

Our 102nd PRESIDENT'S CHANGEOVER DINNER is not to be missed!  We are  showcasing many new projects, events and a new Rotary Award whilst respecting our Presidential "changeover".  Rotary Melbourne would love to see you there for this special occasion.  

 

 

LAUNCH OF ROTARY 100 YEARS

We are launching the Rotary 100 Year Celebrations.  This is not to be missed as it is a once in a lifetime event in the history of Rotary Melbourne.

 

 

EVENING MEETING 18 JUNE

Speaker: Matthew Taylor - Managing director of MET Designs, a not-for-profit social enterprise that aims to transform lives through education. He is also a policy manager for Victorian Government and member of the Global Shapers Community.

Topic: "Harnessing the power of the marketplace to change the world"

 

 

 

DAVID WITTNER TRIBUTE AND AWARD

Rotarian David Wittner AM PHF provided 52 years of faithful Rotary service to Rotary Melbourne. David is enmeshed into the almanac of the Rotary Club of Melbourne.

MEET A NEW MEMBER: MIKAELA STAFRACE

Welcome Mikaela!  Mikaela was inducted only last month and has "hit the Rotary Melbourne ground running"!  Mikaela will be Chairperson of our Evening Meetings and we are all looking forward to working with her in this important area of RCM.

AFR-AUS CARE INTRODUCTION

Thank you to President Robert for this report of his regular visit to Rotary North Melbourne.  I have relished Robert's "super sleuth" news updates he has sent me throughout his year.  Hope they continue.

 

 

CONGRATULATIONS TILMAN!

Rotary Melbourne’s Dr Tilman Ruff, AM was recently awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for distinguished service to the global community as an advocate for nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, and to medicine.  Our congratulations Tilman seen here with President Robert and his Nobel Peace medal!

 

 

MORE QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY HONOURS

An OAM to our DG Bronwyn Stephens for service to the community of South Melbourne and an AM to Young Achiever Alumni - Marita Cheng - for significant service to science and technology, particularly to robotics.  President Robert has written on behalf of the Club to congratulate them all.

 

 

TRADITIONAL GATHERING OF PRESIDENTS

It has been a long tradition of Rotary Melbourne that the outgoing President reviews their year in the company of Past Presidents, and the incoming President outlines their plans for the coming year. Here they are at Kingston Heath Golf Club yesterday.  Looks like it has been a lovely day.

Our congratulations to Dr Elaine Saunders who was recently appointed as Swinburne University's Chair of Innovation Precinct Advisory Board.

"There are a team of AUSTRALIAN Rotarians who have been to to Rotary International Conference in Hamburg who have now joined the Scenic trip from Amsterdam to Budapest on the Scenic Jewel with Mike and I . Currently in Germany, near Nuremberg."  It seems you cannot escape Rotarians!
