LAST WEEK'S SPECIAL CHANGEOVER

WHAT A SPECTACULAR EVENT!!!!!!

206 Rotarians and Guests filled the LaTrobe Dining Room to show their appreciation of President Robert Fisher and to welcome President Kevin Sheehan.  But that was just a small part of the evening and surprises were met with laughter, memories and excitement for the future.

PROCLAMATION LAUNCH OF ROTARY 100

What a highlight of the Special Changeover Dinner was the reading of the "Proclamation" by Hugh Bucknall as he officially launched our Melbourne Rotary 100 Year Celebrations!  He has obviously been a "Town Cryer" in another life!

CONGRATULATIONS MARY BARRY

Congratulations PP Mary Barry.  Mary is seen here after receiving the inaugural David Wittner Mentoring Award from Michael Wittner. She spoke from the heart about David and his interest in her idea of a Mentoring Program and how honoured she felt and how thrilled David would have been.  David was loved for his quiet mentoring of so many of our Members and remembered by all with great fondness.

DAVID WITTNER TRIBUTE

The David Wittner documentary showcased the history of Rotary Melbourne with highlights of our LifeLine contribution,  Very Special Kids,  George Tippett's remarkable generosity in many Third World countries providing medical services, improving and saving lives of disadvantaged children and adults;  and many more inspirational successful projects created by Rotary Melbourne Members. Some Members were astounded by the breadth of projects in our long history.

R100 SOCKS!

Guess who belongs to this ankle?  The wearer is enjoying the comfort of the newly released R100 socks.  Hopefully not the same pair he was wearing at his Changeover Dinner?  Thanks to Phil Endersbee for this terrific fundraiser as we are able to purchase these lovely wool socks via Jo.  More info next week about the socks.

LUNCH ORGANISATION

We tend to take for granted that our lunch meeting with banners, flyers, bell, microphones, table numbers and names just appear out of "netherland".  Well, they don't!  And,  if we want to be met with an organised meeting set up in the future, we need to offer some assistance.

VISIT FROM THE WEST

PP John Garland and Rebecca Tolstoy from Rotary Club of Perth made a flying visit to be part of our Special Changeover Event plus meet with our Safe Families team to explore the possibility of our Safe Families initiative being part of their Path of Hope project. Pic shows L-R:  President Kevin, PP Mary Barry, Rebecca Tolstoy and Suzanne John (both seated), Dorothy Gilmour and PP John Garland (Perth).  Exciting times ahead!
