Last Week's Meeting

Last week’s meeting guest speaker was Optimist Victor Perton. Victor kindly stepped in at short notice and we are very grateful.  Victor spoke on ‘The Case for Optimism the impact of Positive Leadership’. You can view the meeting HERE.

Member News   

Update on PP Robert Fisher: He has walked 350km reaching his target.  Thanks to the great support of members he has raised his goal of $5,000. An amazing achievement. Each dollar donated is tripled thanks to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Michael Selth's relative Rob Selth and my uncle David Rogers were flying in the same Halifax III from 102 Bomber Squadron when they were shot down over the English Channel after bombing a V2 rocket site in 1944, by Peter Rogers.         

Dr Alex Buchanan resigned in 2019 from Rotary Melbourne due to ill health.  He passed away last Wednesday 26 October.

Club News   

At last week's meeting PP Robert Fisher provided an update on the Rotary Melbourne project, in patnership with RedR, on supporting the humanitarian response following the Tonga volcano eruption in January 2022.      

The latest in over 40 presentations of the End Hepatitis Now message to Victorian Rotary Clubs occurred last Wednesday evening at Rotary Hoppers Crossing meeting in Werribee.      

It was announced yesterday in the centre of the Rotary universe i.e. Evanston, USA, that PDG Denis Shore of R.C.Hawthorn will be  appointed a Trustee of The Rotary Foundation for a 4 year term.    

 
District News

The date and venue for the all of Batman Cluster, District Governor Amanda are now locked in (Monday 14 November, Red Emperor, M10, Mid-Level, Southbank).  Past District Governor Philip Archer is producing a promotional flyer to be circulated soon.

Please Note CHANGE OF DATE. The 30^th Rotary Central Melbourne Paul Harris Breakfast this year features guest speaker Jeroen Weimar who will be speaking on the career transitions he has navigated and the influencing factors behind his changing path.      

Rotary International Convention

Dennis Shore, Co-Vice Chair and Promotions Director, has produced the attached Procedure which steps Rotarians through the process to ensure they register and pay in Australian Dollars. The Procedure also emphasises the benefit in registering before 15 December, where there price increases by USD100.
