Welcome New Member - Karen Kim

Melbourne Rotary welcomed and inducted Karen Kim into the Club on 23 November 2022. Karen is the Director of Hello Music Studios. Her classification is Music Education and she will be a member of the Toorak 1 Group. Karen is excited about joining Rotary Melbourne and is looking forward to her participation in the Club committees and activities.    

 

 

 

Our Newest Paul Harris Fellow - Lord Mayor Sally Capp

At last Wednesday's meeting we witnessed the presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow Award to Lord Mayor Sally Capp for her commitment to the community and for her support of Rotary projects that improve our city. Congratulations Sally.

Timor Leste Vocational Training Team report

Rotary Melbourne member Prof Jeremy Oats, recently returned from a visit to Timor Leste and has provided the following report on the Rotary International Vocational Training Team (VTT) Emergency Obstetric Care (EMOC) Fresher Courses.      

 

 

 

27 for Parkinson’s Appeal: Spring into Summer Art Show

Stephen Lake asks you to join him this year in raising funds for Parkinson's Victoria "27 for Parkinson's" campaign.

Last year a number of Rotary Melbourne members supported Stephen in this worthwhile cause by learning 27 tunes on the bagpipes during October.  This year he is organising a 'Spring into Summer Art Show'.

Wittner Plate Champion Golf Tournament 2022

PP Philip Endersbee provides details of the history behind the Wittner Plate Champion Golf Tournament 2022, which was played this November. Graham Whitelaw joined this years group and cleaned up with winner on strokes, handicap & stableford. Yes an outright winner!!

The Governor of Victoria, the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, and Mr Anthony Howard AM KC invite members to attend a free public lecture on child health issues at Government House Victoria on Wednesday 30 November 2022 at 6.00 pm AEST.    

 

 

MITS November 22 Newsletter

MITS (Melbourne Indigenous Transition School) has shared their latest newsletter hereEdward Tudor, Executive Director, notes 'It's a busy but very exciting time of the year as we celebrate the many achievements of our students in 2022.'  They also invite you to join their students, MITS families, staff and volunteers at our End of Year Student Celebration Dinner at the MCG on Wednesday 7th December.  You can purchase your tickets here (RSVP by 29 November).

PP Mary Barry 'reved' up our meeting last week encouraging Rotary Melbourne members who hadn't registered yet to not miss out on one of Rotary's most exciting events.

Dennis Shore, Co-Vice Chair and Promotions Director, has produced the attached Procedure which steps Rotarians through the process to ensure they register and pay in Australian Dollars. The Procedure also emphasises the benefit in registering before 15 December, where there price increases by USD100.
