 Upcoming Meetings & Events

Thursday 2 February 2023 from 5.30pm Rotary Park Picnic

Venue: Rotary Park, Cnr Birdwood Ave, Domain Rd & Anderson St, Royal Botanic Gardens

To kick off our social events Rotary Melbourne will hold a Picnic at Rotary Park on Thursday 2 nd February – so please pack your baskets, rugs and bring your champagne and chicken sandwiches for a great fellowship event. Please advise your Group Captain or Jo if you are able to attend.

In 1934, Rotary Park was established by the City of Melbourne where trees could be planted or ‘dedicated’ to honour distinguished Rotarians or mark significant Rotary occasions. The founder of Rotary, Paul Harris planted the first tree in his only visit to Australia. There have been many others since then.

The Club has embarked on a project to create a public installation of four Peace Bells in Rotary Park to coincide with the Rotary International Convention in May 2023 and be officially opened in conjunction with Rotary International’s first female President Jennifer Jones. This initiative is supported by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp, Rotary International President Jennifer Jones, and District 9800 Governor Amanda Wendt and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Jennifer Jones has commenced planning to highlight the project as the legacy project for the 2023 Rotary International Convention.IT’S A BIG DEAL!!

This would make it the first ever legacy project of a convention.

In May 2023, we will unveil the new Peace Bells in our Rotary Park – which will be officially renamed Rotary Melbourne Peace Park. You will be hearing more of this project soon.

Situation Vacant - Photographer

Our Club Meeting Photographers need some additional volunteers.  The aim is to have sufficient photographers so that you would only be scheduled every two or three months to take photos at our weekly meeting.

You do not have to be an expert photographer.  We have guidelines which describe what is required, and we will provide induction / additional support for all new volunteers.  It is a great opportunity to help develop your photographic skills and get involved in recording the history of our Club!

Please advise Bill Pickett if you can help: Email: bill@pickettconsulting.com.au Mob: 0408 390 558
