Tony Pearce, Chair of the Emergency Services Foundation and Victoria’s Inspector General for Emergency Management, is embarking early 2023 on a solo trek over 50 days and 1440kms in the areas worst affected by the 2019/20 black summer fires.

Rotary projects around the globe (January 2023)
This month we showcase Rotary projects around the world including recycling of e-waste in California, disaster support in the Caribbean, a charity walk in Portugal, a peace memorial in Kosovo and planting mangroves to protect Viti Levu, Fiji from coastal erosion and rehabilitation of the ecosystem and shoreline.

UK Study on Carbon Storage in Trees
Good news - a study on UK trees shows that trees could store almost twice as much carbon as previously thought. Different trees will have different levels of sequestration though and likely cannot directly apply results of this study to Australia because of many different species of trees - still very promising news and other future studies hopefully provide similar results.
