Announcement – change of date
In 2021 Melbourne Rotary ran its inaugural Environmental Sustainability Award, focussing on improving ecological sustainability.
This year the focus of the Award will be on tomorrow’s leaders.
The award was announced some weeks ago, and we have received a number of requested to extend the submission date.
The awards committee have agreed to extend the submission date by 2 weeks to Tuesday 7th May at 2pm, to ensure maximum participants. This date will not be extended again.
The Award is inspired by the need to take action to support the environment, being one of Rotary’s 7 areas of focus. Specifically in the areas of;
This year the Award is focussed on excellence in environmental sustainability in secondary school-aged children who have made a significant contribution to their community. The community can be defined as a school community, fellow students as well as the community at large.
The 2024 Award criteria is for a group of secondary school students who have created or developed a project, that demonstrates leadership in sustainability and community engagement.
The purpose of the award is to:
We are looking forward to receiving many entrants that meet the Award criteria, and request you please distribute the attached application form to your school community.
Applications must be received by 2pm on Tuesday May 7th 2024.
The Award will be a $3000 grant to be paid to the school of the winning entrant, to be spent on an environment and sustainability project.
Special commendation may be granted to a select group of entrants, and all entrants will receive a participation certificate.
All participants of the winning Award will be invited to attend and receive their Award at presentations to be held on Wednesday 5th June, 2024, at the Melbourne Sofitel, 12.30pm – 2pm.
