President Chris relayed the following message at lunch last week. “Sad news from the Balwyn Group that stalwart and wife of deceased Community Welfare Committee legend Lawton Cooke has passed away on 8 May 24.  Lyn and Lawton opened their home to members on a regular basis for friendship and you may remember Lawton blocking your path with his walker as you arrived directing you to the raffle for a chance to win his birthday whiskey."

Lili Teichman (Lili Teichman - Action from the Heart | District 9800 (rotarydistrict9800.org.au), Past President of Rotary Glen Eira, has been leading the Nourish Program since 2020, providing meals to people who are struggling and experiencing homelessness.    

In a transformative and sustainable move for the food rescue and relief sector, SecondBite and FareShare have announced they will merge from July 1, 2024.   

MITS (Melbourne Indigenous Transition School) has shared their latest newsletter here. Edward Tudor, Executive Director noted 'we explore the variety of exciting activities our senior students are up to in our Pathways Schools.  We also introduce you to our MITS school staff.' 

District

ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) is a Multi-District Organisation within Rotary.  ROMAC exists to facilitate the provision of life-saving and dignity restoring surgery for children in the Oceania region.  ROMAC is looking to fill two significant volunteer vacancies:-

• Operations Director (see attached advertisement), and  
• HR, Training and Recruitment Chair (see attached advertisement).  

The deadline for applications for these positions is 30 June, 2024.
