Welcome New Member - Dr Dimitrios Salampasis
Rotary Melbourne welcomed and inducted Dr Dimitrios Salampasis on 28 August 2024 with the classification Innovation-FinTech. Dimitrios works is the FinTech Capability Lead and Senior Lecturer of Emerging Technologies and FinTech at the Swinburne University. In 2021 Dimitrios was the recipient of the 2021 Swinburne University Vice Chancellor's Engagement Award - Industry Engagement (Individual).

PNG Snakebite Partnership Project Update
Rotary Melbourne recently made a donation to St John Emergency Services PNG, to enable purchase of a Zoll mobile ventilator for use in ambulances transporting snakebite victims from Kwikila District Hospital to Port Moresby General Hospital.

Rotary Melbourne's relationship with SecondBite is showcased in this month's Rotary Downunder magazine. We have been helping volunteer to collect food donations at Melbourne's markets since January 2007.
National cabinet agrees on $4.7bn plan to address domestic violence crisis. Here’s what we know
Rotary Safe Families welcome the announcment by the Australian Government to support family and gender-based violence. The funding includes $3.9bn from the commonwealth for frontline legal assistance services for families escaping violence, which will begin flowing from 1 July 2025. Another $351m from the federal government will go towards a five-year partnership for supporting specialist women’s and children’s services, as well as men’s behaviour change programs. This investment will be matched by the states, amounting to $702m. Read more HERE
