A Prospective Members Evening was held in the Rotary Club Melbourne (RCM) office on the evening of 11 September 2024.  It was well attended despite the poor weather and protests at the Convention Centre.

Bruce Livett Honorary Life Member Rotary E-Club of WA

Rotary Melbourne member Bruce Livett attended the Rotary Club of Kelowna, BC, Canada, District 5060, while visiting his daughter and granddaughter (18 months) on Wednesday 28 August 24. On his return to Australia Bruce will be inducted into the Rotary E-Club of Western Australia (as an Honorary Life Member).

Bionics Institute Alzheimer's clinical trial

Clinical trial investigating new treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease
The Bionics Institute is seeking adults aged 50 to 85 years who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease to participate in a clinical trial investigating a new treatment using non-invasive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

Donations in Kind has N95 masks available

DIK has recently been offered a substantial quantity of 3M, N95 Masks (8210 P2 Respirators) with an expiry date of September 2025.  While many local communities could greatly benefit from this donation, DIK may not be fully aware of the numerous community groups or individuals you collaborate with. Can you identify communities?     

 

 

 

PNG Snakebite Partnership Project Update #2

Rotary Melbourne recently made a donation to St John Emergency Services PNG, to enable purchase of a Zoll mobile ventilator for use in ambulances transporting snakebite victims from Kwikila District Hospital to Port Moresby General Hospital.

Rotary - The Big Serve Melbourne 2024

The event is The Big Serve Melbourne 2024 (“BSN”) will be held on Sunday, 27th October, 2024.  This is a community day, designed to bring as many people together as possible to connect and have fun.  It will be held at the Maribyrnong Park Tennis Club, Moonee Ponds. It is a community day, in support of mental health, any funds that are raised will go to three mental health support agencies, one of which is the Trauma Recovery Network Australia.  The other two agencies have yet to be decided, there are so many that are worthy of support.

Turning Reclaimed Materials into Sustainable Homes

Working with a tight budget and some creativity, Mat Boyle and Anna Winneke are giving new life to reclaimed materials and setting an example for eco-friendly building practices.
