Harmony Amongst Australian based South Soudanese Communities
Between Thursday 13th and Saturday 15th September 2024, 30 emerging leaders of South Soudanese immigrant communities in Canberra, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia were hosted by the University of Melbourne Initiative for Peace in a 3-day residential program to develop their skills in Peace Leadership. Rotary Melbourne funded the program from annual funding of Welfare of the Young Committee initiatives supported by the Peter Mackay Bequest.
Rotary Peace Bells Project
Rob McGuirk the Project leader of the Peace Bells project advised the meeting that he was very pleased and also very relieved to confirm that the bells were now installed in Rotary Peace Park just in time for the UN International Day of Peace on 21st September.
Regional Pacific Conference on Disinformation - Brisbane
At the Rotary Melbourne meeting on Wednesday 18 September 24 Damian Cardona Onses, Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Canberra recommended Rotary members may be interested in attending the Disinfo Pacific, Regional Conference on Disinformation, Australia, New Zealand and The Pacific, 11-12 November 2024, Brisbane.

ROMAC provides surgical treatment for children in Australia and New Zealand from developing countries from our Pacific Region in the form of Life Giving and/or dignity restoring surgery not accessible to them in their home country.
