Hat Day for Australian Rotary Health

Australian Rotary Health Scholar Harry Demsey is studying a PhD in Biomedicine at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health (University of Melbourne), presented at the Rotary Melbourne meeting on Wednesday 16 October 24.

Our WASH Champions

Through WASH programs in water, sanitation, healthcare, literacy, and livelihoods, our Rotary Melbourne project teams have improved thousands of lives in the Philippines and beyond. With resilient local partnerships, they push forward, even amid cyclones, with three more transformative projects set for 2025 completion. Read more about our recent achievements, with three more transformative projects slated for completion by the first quarter of 2025.

 

 

Walk With Us to end Polio 2024 - Update #4

Support PP Robert Fisher - Robert is racking towards 300km since 1 October 24, he is more than half way to his target. Wonderful supporters have helped raise $4,744 (95% of his fundraising achieved) which will become three times that thanks to the Gates Foundation.

Good Shepherd Thrilled with Kids Bikes

Following our promotion in the Rotary Melbourne Bulletin, Peter Berg has been liaising with Colleen D’ Offay at DIK and Soula Drummond at the Good Shepherd on 6 brand new children’s bikes for the Good Shepherd Safe House play area which will be available to collect around 22 October 24.
The Good Shepherd are thrilled to receive them and Colleen has suggested she be sent a Wish List of items for the Safe House needs.

 

 

Central 1 at Naughton's On Thursday 17 October 24, the Rotary Melbourne Central Group 1 gathered at the Naughton Hotel for a delightful dinner. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship and connection among fellow Rotarians. We had the pleasure of welcoming our new member, Will Abdo, and bidding farewell to Colin Honey until his return from Cambridge. Thank you to all who attended this enjoyable gathering.

The 32nd Rotary Central Melbourne Paul Harris Breakfast this year features guest speaker Chris Anstey "Tall Tales: What the whiteboard never taught me". Chris is an elite performance coach with a 17 year sporting career - NBA (Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls), Russia, Spain and two-time Olympian and World Champion.

Scientists Discover Heat-Tolerant Corals in The Great Barrier Reef

Research shows that certain coral species have heat tolerance abilities that could help with coral conservation, a significant finding as ocean temperatures continue to rise.
