Walk With Us to end Polio 2024 - Update #6 Final
PP Robert Fisher - Well, October is over and – thanks to you, my wonderful 36 supporters – we have raised $5,327 for the End Polio campaign. With the Gates Foundation’s generous x 2 matching, this becomes $15,981. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Vale Ian Dakin
Longer serving members will be saddened by the news of the passing of Ian Dakin a former member of the club and brother to Past President Peter Dakin. Ian died at Cabrini Hospital on 22 October after a long illness. He was 88.
Vale Sianna Panagiotopoulos
The sad news of the unexpected death of Dr Sianna Panagiotopoulos, was advised at last week's meeting. She was an esteemed Medical Researcher with Austin Health, a former member of the Club who had remained active in the Balwyn Group. Details of a service for Sianna follow.

At this week’s meeting President Catherine on behalf of Past President Chris and his Board made the presentation of the Forth Bridge Award to Richard Parker & MAHAH Team.
Smith Family Raffle 2024 - Draw & Result
The Smith Family Raffle 2024 was drawn by Past President Mary Barry before the Rotary Melbourne lunch on Wednesday 30 October 24.
The prize was a $2,000 cycling equipment voucher from My Ride Collingwood supporting the Smith Family's Learning for Life Program for families needing support to fund the education of their children.

Macedon Writers Festival 22-24 November 24
Rotary members and friends might be interested in attending the Macedon Writers Festival. It has some great speakers including; Bob Brown, Bruce Pascoe (Dark Emu), Geena Chick (Alone), Paul Bangay, Annie Smithers and many more. There are also events for children and an art class so it has something for everyone. Also there will be several performances of the Ash Wednesday play (about the fires at Mt Macedon) which was sold out when it last was performed in 2022.
