ABOUT
In 2021 Melbourne Rotary established the inaugural Environmental Sustainability Award, focusing on improving ecological sustainability.
Previous awardees include:
As was last year, this year the focus of the Award will be on tomorrow’s leaders.
The Award is inspired by the need to take action to support the Environment, being one of Rotary’s 7 areas of focus. Specifically in the areas of;
- Biodiversity
- Sustainable living
- Pollution
- Climate
- Food Systems
- Circular Economy
This year the Award is focused on excellence in environmental sustainability in secondary school-aged children who have made a significant contribution to their community. The community can be defined as a school community, fellow students as well as the community at large.
CRITERIA
The 2025 Award criteria is for a group of secondary school students who have created or developed a project, that demonstrates leadership in sustainability and community engagement.
The purpose of the award is to:
- Inspire tomorrow’s leaders to focus on Environmental Sustainability
- Demonstrate Innovation and ideas
- Create engagement and to inspire other school children
We are looking forward to receiving many entrants that meet the Award criteria, and request you please distribute the attached application form to your school community.
APPLICATION FORMS
Applications must be received by 2pm on Wednesday 14th May 2025.

The Award will be a $3000 grant to be paid to the school of the winning entrant, to be spent on an environment and sustainability project.
Special commendation may be granted to a select group of entrants, and all entrants will receive a participation certificate.
All participants of the winning Award will be invited to attend and receive their Award at presentations to be held on Wednesday 11th June, 2025, at the Melbourne Sofitel, 12.30pm – 2pm.
