About this week's evening with Steph

Join us at the offices of Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick, Level 28, 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, for an inspiring in-person event with Steph Say, CEO of HoMie - a Melbourne streetwear label and social enterprise. HoMie reinvests 100% of profits to support young people aged 18–25 affected by homelessness or hardship, offering retail training and employment pathways. With partnerships including the AFL and Country Road, and nearly 4,000 lives impacted, Steph will share how HoMie blends purpose and profit. Arrive before 6PM—doors will lock!

Vale Alan Trumble

Sad news from his daughter Penny that Alan Trumble died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday 1st October.  A memorial service will be planned and advised.  

Alan was a much loved friend and colleague of two decades.  He resigned from the Club in December 2022 due to failing health. His gentle but forceful way of selling was called upon for many of our wine fundraisers.

A perfect gentleman with a terrific humour he is survived by his wife Jann and his extended family.

Rotary Melbourne have been using the Around the Bay bike event to raise funds for The Smith Family for over 20 years.  This year we are looking to diversify our activities - instead of focusing our volunteer activities we are asking members to pledge financial support to the riders.

PNG Snakebite Community Awareness Activities - May-September 25

Between June and September, community awareness activities were conducted across 11 locations in Central, Western, Milne Bay, Madang, and Rigo Districts. A total of 970 people (504 male, 466 female) were reached through schools, community groups, markets, health facilities, and villages.

CRST Update - Introducing Sambun Sambath

Rotary Melbourne is now hosting a new Cambodia Rural Students Trust (CRST) Cambodian student Sambun Sambath following Tangly Tan completing his university education. Sambun notes that 'I am so inspired by the vision of CRST, which is “Breaking the Poverty Cycle Through Education”. This phrase is similar to my purpose because my goal is to uplift my family out of poverty through my education and ultimately secure a good job in the future.
