On Monday 7 March 2016 the Health & Ageing Committee will again be holding the Seniors' Lunch at Max's restaurant at Red Hill Estates winery starting at midday. This is an all-day event for a group of seniors from the Housing Commission flats in Kensington and North Melbourne who are experiencing, or are at risk of, social isolation. We work with carers in the Kensington and North Melbourne complexes to select the seniors receiving the day out. The carers come with them to supervise and to look after the seniors under their care.
A stop is made on the way down and one on the way back, with the exact stopping points being subject to the weather. Last year they were Arthur's Seat and Safety Beach.
The carers comment that at the start of the day the coach is quiet but by the end the conversation is strong and continuous. The seniors are isolated no more!
Rotarians are welcome to join us for the lunch (but not the coach trip) at their own cost for the lunch which will be about $40 each. If you want to join us on what is a most enjoyable outing, please contact Warren Johnson on 0408364805 or warrenjohnson101 @ gmail.com before the end of this month.
