The 3MBS Bach Marathon brings Australia’s finest classical musicians together to present an immersive all-day experience celebrating the works of the Bach family.

Six concerts over twelve hours makes the Marathon Australia’s biggest single-day classical music event, featuring many of the nation’s greatest chamber and vocal musicians.

Highlights include the first performance in 240 years of the C.P.E Bach St Matthew Passion (1777) performed by Melbourne Bach Choir and orchestra, plus Australian Chamber Orchestra’s Timo-Veikko Valve performing the Cello Suite BWV 1012 on a five-string piccolo cello.

The all-day event concludes with the masterful Goldberg Variations by eminent pianist and teacher Stephen McIntyre and past students Caroline Almonte, Kristian Chong, Stefan Cassomenos, Lachlan Tan and Peter de Jager.
