Lucienne Heyworth - Rotary People of Action Award
Lucy is a past Peace Fellow sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Fitzroy and Melbourne in 2014 who graduated from Uppsala University in Sweden with an MSc in 2017. She has undergraduate degrees from the University of Melbourne (MA), ANU (BA) and Deakin University (BA) and worked as a teacher in the Western suburbs of Melbourne and Department of Premier and Cabinet.
She was nominated for a Rotary People of Action award by District 9800 earlier this year and was one of 6 successful awardees worldwide. Lucy spoke of her education work with refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Yemen with UNESCO and Caritas at the club recently.
She will attend the presentation of her award at the UN in New York later in the year. She returned to Melbourne for the birth of her daughter and will soon return to her base in Lebanon to continue her vital work.
