FORaMEAL Evening Meeting Wednesday 12 April 23

FORaMeal Volunteer packing.  In person only event.

All members and friends are invited and encouraged to bring a friend partner or child to assist with the packaging of bulk food for distribution to those in desperate need.

It is an opportunity to have some fun, do some good and catchup with fellow community minded individuals.

Group Captains have been encouraged to convene a catchup on this day following the packing and a venue has been selected close by for a drink or meal.

Since 2017, FORaMEAL, a project of Rotary Canterbury has provided emergency relief meals for people across the Asia Pacific impacted by natural disasters. Each year over 150,000 meals are packed and delivered free! 

The FORaMEAL packs to include a balance and nutritious blend of carbohydrates, important fats and proteins together with a sachet of essential vitamins and minerals.   Quin Scalzo PP Rotary Melbourne provides nuts and other ingredients to the program.

Each year, volunteers from across the Rotary network produce, seal and box approximately 150,000 meals for distribution the following year. To date over 3,000 volunteers from over 35 clubs, schools, universities and associations have contributed to the FORaMEAL cause.

Rotary Melbourne will be offering members the opportunity to participate in the FORaMEAL packing program at the April Evening meeting 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Afterwards attendees have the option to join for a meal/drink at the Oxford Scholar just across the road at their own cost.

So what is involved: You will be provided with a hat and gloves to maintain hygiene, and then fun, teamwork and Fellowship starts.  A production line will package and seal the dry ingredients.

The completed item will be shipped to the relevant country requiring relief food.  

To date over 500,000 thousand meals have been delivered for free!!  Please join us to help those that need our efforts.
