Make A House A Home

Our Rotary Melbourne Make House a Home project (MAHAH) has assisted hundreds of homeless people since it commenced over five years ago.

Working to support Launch Housing, Rotary Melbourne volunteers collate sets (tea-chest boxes) of new homewares to helped those have experienced homelessness with their new home with Launch Housing. The boxes are allocated on a highest need basis to long term homeless clients when they can finally place them in a unit. After extended homelessness, these people typically own no homeware to set up afresh once they are housed. The boxes are also allocated to some victims of domestic violence who have left a dangerous situation with no household possessions.

Our Rotary Melbourne volunteers help with the purchasing, and also the packing which is completed at the Sunshine warehouse of Past President Chris Wang. Partnering with the Donations in Kind warehouse, the DIK Truck then helps transport the goods to Launch Housing in Dandenong.

Launch Housing highly value what we do and the demand is real and ongoing.
