Rotary Melbourne is honoured to have Professor Sharon Lewin AO, Director of the Doherty Institute, give the 7th Thomas Baker Oration on Wednesday 19 April 2023 at the Sofitel.       

We are pleased to advise that our Organising Committee is well advanced in organising the 2023, Second Rotary World Environment Day luncheon on Wednesday 17 May 2023 in the Sofitel Ballroom.        

To celebrate Rotary Melbourne’s visiting sister and friendship clubs during the 2023 Rotary International Convention, you and your partner are invited to join us for a special evening with Rotarians and friends from across Australia and all over the world at our Marvellous Melbourne Cocktail Party at Melbourne's iconic Hotel Windsor.     

A multi club hosting event for Rotary International delegates and local Rotary clubs.
A casual night of fun and fellowship.      

Member News

Melbourne Rotary welcomed and inducted Robert Klupacs into the Club on 1 March 2023. Robert is CEO of the Bionics Institute. His classification is Corporate Designee - Bionics Research and he will be a member of the Central 2 Group. Robert, Ann and Melissa are excited about joining Rotary Melbourne as the Institute's philosophies align closely with Rotary's - helping others.    

Melbourne Rotary welcomed and inducted Mrs Ann Fazakerley into the Club on 1 March 2023. Ann is Head of Philanthropy at the Bionics Institute. Her classification is Corporate Designee - Bionics Research and she will be a member of the Central 2 Group. 

Melbourne Rotary welcomed and inducted Ms Melissa McShane into the Club on 1 March 2023. Melissa is Development Manager at the Bionics Institute. Her classification is Corporate Designee - Bionics Research and she will be a member of the Central 2 Group.   

Maestro David Kram will be conducting The Ring Cycle Opera (Cycle 3 and last cycle) Opera at the Ulumbarra Theatre, Bendigo.  The cycle David is conducting is being held on April 21 (Das Rheingold), 23 (Die Walküre), 28 (Siegfried) and 30 (Götterdämmerung). For more details and to book visit HERE.

The Rotary Melbourne Bulletin editor recently had contact with Kushal, a former intern with the Club. He was recently appointed a Study Melbourne Ambassador in February.      

Congraultions to Keith Callinan and Trudi on the arrival of their great grand child, Eli Harley Dunstan, born 2 March 2023 at Box Hill hospital.    

Club News    

The Rotary Club of Melbourne is a club that for generations has made a significant legacy to Rotary and to the City of Melbourne. Our new Peace Bell installation at our Rotary Park (newly renamed as “Rotary Melbourne Peace Park”) will provide yet another significant legacy and a focal point for Peace in Melbourne.         

Footy Tipping is an important fund raising initiative of the club. Join the Rotary Melbourne Footing Tipping Competition for 2023. AFL footy commences on Thursday 16 March. Dont forget to get your tips in if you have registered.

A solo walk covering 1500 kilometres will promote the need to support the mental health of Victoria’s emergency management community. To find out more, donate or follow Tony’s Trek go to www.esf.com.au.       

On 7 February 2023, the Rotary Action Group For Peace (RAGFP) held its first Global Peacebuilder Club meeting. In 2019 Rotary Melbourne joined seven other Clubs around Australia and became a ‘Peacebuilder Club’.

The Polio Plus Society is a new fundraising and recognition program that specifically supports PolioPlus through members donating at least US$100 per year until polio is eradicated.
