Editor placed an item 3 weeks ago calling for any Member who thinks they have the time and leaderships strengths to mentor an Ambulance Victoria Paramedic, to contact me. Nothing - no responses.
As suggested by Hugh Bucknall in his recent presentation ’Never Waste a Good Crisis’, Rotary Melbourne has set up a Fighting Fund to assist Rotarians, Rotary projects and Rotary suppliers adversely affected by the COVID-19 emergency.
The following is the email from Bob Glindemann updating the wonderful Rotary SecondBiters of the cessation of their volunteering at Prahran Market for some time.
Rotary Melbourne's "What's App" is proving to be a terric addition to Rotary Melbourne's means of "connecting" to Members during this crisis.
Thank you David Hayes for this terrific update: "Attached is the report from Empowering Youth Cambodia concerning the assistance provided to the Youth School community following the disastrous fire in January.
Thanks to Mikaela Stafrace for email highlighting this simple way to show that we appreciate our health workers. This a wonderful initiative from the ever clever and generous Hana Assafiri Please get behind this, it’s not expensive, the food is superb and our health workers are our frontline defenders doing an extraordinary job.
Editor is inviting your to check out some of the Virtual Tours she has discovered from the website. You can take an "overseas" trip whilst enjoying the comfort of your own chair. No airport lounges, queues of tourists, poor coffee and tired legs!
Update from Ari Talantis, our Webmaster: "If you have missed one of our online meetings, or if you would like to view it again…. Don’t forget to click "subscribe" to our channel." Rotary Melbourne website, tap Meetings/Events and YouTube.
Bob Glindemann has provided the following update to our SecondBite volunteers at Prahran Market Sunday collections. We all acknowledge the fantastic work by Bob and we look together to the future as our disadvantaged people need our support more than ever. How can we do this in "lockdown"?
Thank you Robert Fisher for this Reflection. Each week as we continue our Zoom or Facebook meetings, Bulletin will provide the Reflection for the week. We continue our lives differently but with the same purpose and Rotary fellowship.
Another successful FaceBook was held last week. More than 540 people viewed the presentation by Dr Derek Farrell. If you missed it, you can view on Facebook: Rotary Melbourne - Videos. You can also view from front page of our website under Podcasts and You Tube.

Editor can't see his R100 Socks but trust he is wearing them as he soberly prepares for our ZOOM Meeting!
Thank you Jo Mavros for sending Editor the attached letter from "The Big Issue". It is overwhelming to look outside our own isolation presently. The following though is the reality for some vulnerable people ... Maybe you can assist "The Big Issue"?

Comment from Rotary Sydney about our recent Facebook meeting: "An impressive initiative by our Rotary colleagues in Melbourne." Please note: We have now had more than 5,000 views of this FB meeting.
I imagine for some Members who may feel isolated and not "tech savvy", you may be curious about ZOOM on Computer and IPad but haven't tried it yet. It is simple even in "isolation" to "meet" on a Wednesday at 1.00 pm in fellowship with Rotary Melbourne. Last week, I counted 75 Members, (Jo says 61), but I've always been one for exaggeration!
This latest news is a major milestone for the Rotary 100 Year Centenary Project - Give Every Child a Future. Well done Chris Wang and the GECAF team.
Topic: "The Corona Virus trumps everything. The past can inform us about the future."
This week's meeting will be accessed via Zoom at 1.00 pm. Details to follow re. Zoom directions.
