Last week was an exciting week in the Rotary Victoria Police Leaders' Mentoring Program. Our three Mentors, Maryla Juchnowski, Graham O'Donnell and Dorothy Gilmour and their Mentees met with Victoria Police Command, Rotary District Governors, LMP Steering Committee and Rotary Club Central Melbourne to celebrate the completion of the mentoring program for 2017/18.
Typhoon Mangkhut, known in the Philippines as Typhoon Ompong, was a strong typhoon which struck the Northern Philippines islands on 14 September 2018 with disastrous flooding. Thanks to Bob Glindemann, Ruth Carlos Martinez and Members, a call to action was undertaken successfully.

Chris Wang has updated us of a valuable meeting with VP Rajkumar Perumal Suppiah of the RC Singapore. "An interesting meeting with valuable exchange of ideas. They are interested in co-operation. Singapore are hosting the 2024 International Convention." Thank you Chris and the fantastic efforts of the RI Convention Team.
Annual Balwyn V Hawthorn/Kew Snooker night where men all wore ties ( mandatory dress code) which sometimes got in the way of hitting the billiard ball – other than Phil Endersbee who had his tie in the "pasta" eating position.

A special acknowledgement to Maryla Juchnowski (R) who was special guest of her Mentee, Snr Sgt Marilynn Ross (L) at Victoria's Multi-Cultural Awards for Excellence for 2018 held at Government House. Marilynn was recognised for her work with the Indian community and cited Maryla for her role as "Mentor, Assist Initiative, Concepts & Questions". Fantastic work Maryla as Mentor in 2016/17 Program!
A video film "We are Here for You, because We are You" has been produced by Victoria Police employees who have established relationships with multicultural communities by developing innovative strategies via the Rotary Victoria Police Mentoring Program.
The inaugural Rotary International Zone 8 "Humanitarian of the Year Award" has been announced and we are thrilled to announce that Rotary Club of Melbourne's Ruth Carlos Martinez is this year's Awardee nominated for her tireless work in the Philippines on a multiple of Water and Sanitation Projects. There were too many Malvern Group attendees to fit us all in one photo! Thank you to Reg and Sue who last week, hosted a fantastic highly topical discussion with lovely supper. It was great to see John Reynolds, a staunch Malvern Group participant. Missing from photo is Gladys Liu, Allan Wang, Reg, Barnaby and Editor.
Last week's luncheon meeting was another one of those outstanding meetings which this time, heard from Edward Tudor when he humbly accepted the RCM 2018 Vocational Service Award.
