Six Rotary Melbourne members and friends completed the Around The Bay in a Day Bicycle 2024 event on Sunday 6th October 2024. Funds raised by Rotary Melbourne will help fund The Smith Family’s - Learning for Life Program.
The event is The Big Serve Melbourne 2024 (“BSN”) will be held on Sunday, 27th October, 2024. This is a community day, designed to bring as many people together as possible to connect and have fun. It will be held at the Maribyrnong Park Tennis Club, Moonee Ponds. It is a community day, in support of mental health, any funds that are raised will go to three mental health support agencies, one of which is the Trauma Recovery Network Australia. The other two agencies have yet to be decided, there are so many that are worthy of support.
Next June 2025, Rotarians from across the world will be gathering in Calgary for the annual Rotary International Convention (21-25 June). This event will bring together change makers from diverse backgrounds and cultures to connect, share impactful ideas, and experience the vibrant culture of Calgary.
Rotary Melbourne welcomed and inducted Stanley Ho on 2 October 2024 with the classification Wellness Entrepreneur. Stanley believes that “The future of wellness is not just a trend—it's a lifestyle transformation!”.
The 3 eggs were laid in late August. On 1 October 24 two eggs hatched with the 3rd hatching a couple of days later.

Between Thursday 13th and Saturday 15th September 2024, 30 emerging leaders of South Soudanese immigrant communities in Canberra, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia were hosted by the University of Melbourne Initiative for Peace in a 3-day residential program to develop their skills in Peace Leadership. Rotary Melbourne funded the program from annual funding of Welfare of the Young Committee initiatives supported by the Peter Mackay Bequest.
Rob McGuirk the Project leader of the Peace Bells project advised the meeting that he was very pleased and also very relieved to confirm that the bells were now installed in Rotary Peace Park just in time for the UN International Day of Peace on 21st September.
At the Rotary Melbourne meeting on Wednesday 18 September 24 Damian Cardona Onses, Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Canberra recommended Rotary members may be interested in attending the Disinfo Pacific, Regional Conference on Disinformation, Australia, New Zealand and The Pacific, 11-12 November 2024, Brisbane.
