Members were saddened to hear of the sudden passing on Thursday 7 November of our lunch stalwart member Max Barr, with his daughter present. Funeral details will be advised when known.

The Smith Family Raffle 2024 was drawn by Past President Mary Barry before the Rotary Melbourne lunch on Wednesday 30 October 24.
The prize was a $2,000 cycling equipment voucher from My Ride Collingwood supporting the Smith Family's Learning for Life Program for families needing support to fund the education of their children.

The sad news of the unexpected death of Dr Sianna Panagiotopoulos, was advised at last week's meeting. She was an esteemed Medical Researcher with Austin Health, a former member of the Club who had remained active in the Balwyn Group. Details of a service for Sianna follow.
Longer serving members will be saddened by the news of the passing of Ian Dakin a former member of the club and brother to Past President Peter Dakin. Ian died at Cabrini Hospital on 22 October after a long illness. He was 88.
At this week’s meeting President Catherine on behalf of Past President Chris and his Board made the presentation of the Forth Bridge Award to Richard Parker & MAHAH Team.

Thanks to Australian Rotary Health funding, ARH Scholar Jason Palazzolo and his Monash University team have developed ‘SCE5-scuPA,’ a clot-busting drug showing impressive results in safely dissolving brain clots. With over 100 Australians facing strokes daily, this groundbreaking research could save lives and improve recovery for thousands.

16 years to the day since former member Mike Flavel selected the Group Study Exchange (GSE) team to Sweden. Mike represented Rotary Melbourne as the GSE team leader and mentor for these wonderful young people in May 2009.
