Rotary Melbourne celebrated its 5000th club meeting on Wednesday 30th August 2023 by holding the 53rd annual Angus Mitchell Oration with special guest speaker, former Prime Minister, the Hon John Howard, with approximately 300 in attendance in the Grand Ballroom of the Sofitel on Collins, Melbourne.
100 Rotarians and guests attended our special expert panel at Porsche Brighton on the topice of Electric Vehicles "Myths Busted" on 15th November 2023. Our panellists included Heather Bone, Alex Coslovich, and Steve Amor.
On Wednesday 21st February 2024, the 54th annual Angus Mitchell Oration was delivered by former Australian Ambassador to the USA, the Hon Arthur Sinodinos AO, with approximately 150 in attendance at the Sofitel on Collins, Melbourne.
On Wednesday 24th April 2024, the 8th annual Thomas Baker Oration was delivered by Dr Doug Hilton AO, CEO of the CSIRO on the topic of "If Science is to Save Us", with approximately 150 in attendance at the Sofitel on Collins, Melbourne.
The inaugural Artificial Intelligence Summit was held jointly by Rotary Melbourne and the Royal Society of Victoria on 29th May 2024 at the Society's beautiful 19th century building in Latrobe Street, featuring global thought leaders. Expert panellists included Finbar O'Hanlon, Assoc Prof Magdalena Simonis, Dr Dimitrios Salampasis and Aaron Sempf, with a few special guests beamed in from around the world.
The 2024 Annual Rotary Melbourne Grand Final Lunch was held on 24th September at No 35, Sofitel on Collins, with special guest speaker panellists Stephen McBurney, Head of AFL Umpiring, and sports barrister Adrian Anderson, Vice President of the Melbourne Cricket Club and former AFL General Manager of Football Operations.
