The theme of this year’s Homeless Week is: It’s time to end homelessness”.
For the entire week, Launch Housing will light up the pillars of Melbourne Town Hall with a display showing the progress that has been made by Melbourne's local councils in their efforts to end Homelessness.

Melbourne Rotary welcomed and inducted Manoel Felipe Marques into the Club on 2 August 2023, with the classification Marketing & Communications. He began his involvement with the Rotary Club of Cruzeiro in 2018, dedicating himself to promoting the polio eradication campaign in the city through event organisation and dissemination of information.
At the Rotary Melbourne meeting on Wednesday 2 August the Guest Speaker was Professor Elaine Saunders, esteemed Biomedical Engineer, Audiological Scientist, business-woman, author and Former Club Member, and she spoke on the topic of 'Hearing loss: more of a problem than we thought'.

News from Robyn Hollands, daughter of Clive Hollands advised last week that Clive suffered a slight heart attack, he is doing as well as can be expected, is comfortable, and is in Box Hill Epworth waiting for surgery scheduled for this week. We wish Clive all the best.

At the recent ESRAG Annual General Meeting Garry Fowler was awarded the joint ESRAG Environment Volunteer of the Year Award 2023 Regional Chapters for your outstanding contribution to your ESRAG Regional Chapter. The announcement of your Award was made by the ESRAG Regional Chapter Coordinator, Malcolm Rooney.
President Chris Sotiropoulos announced the celebration of 3 club member birthdays.
President Chris relayed the following message at lunch last week. “On a sad note, this morning we received an email from Malcolm Simpson who is today 50 years a member, advising that his much loved wife Patricia Simpson passed away on 15th July surrounded by family.
Since the Zone 8 Regionalisation Pilot received financial support from the Rotary International Board in April 2023, a large amount of work has been happening behind the scenes.
It is with great sadness that Rotary Melbourne advises the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Alistair Urquhart. Alistair passed away on 16 July. Alistair's Funeral Service will be held at the Barwon Heads Uniting Church, Hitchcock Ave, Barwon Heads on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 commencing at 11:00am; followed by a Burial at the Queenscliff Cemetery, (Point Lonsdale Cemetery), 159 Point Lonsdale Road, Point Lonsdale.
Around the Rotary world, there are now a number of cause-based clubs starting up. At the Rotary Melbourne Marvellous Melbourne cocktail party during the convention, one of our guests was a member of the Rotary Club of the Pacific Northwest Ending Sex Trafficking, based in Seattle, Washington.
