The Rotary Melbourne 0808 Committee works to honour the legacy of our second Club President, General Sir John Monash, and the achievements of the Australian Corps in World War I.
Each year, the Committee organises Rotary Melbourne’s involvement in the 0808 Ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance on 8 August and collaborates with the Spirit of Australia Foundation for the Monash Commemorative Service held at the Parliament of Victoria.
As part of these commemorations, our club meeting closest to 8 August features the presentation of the Monash Medal to an eminent Australian who exemplifies leadership and service in the spirit of Sir John Monash.
Artistic Director, Founder of MTO and Chair of our Arts Committee - congratulations to David Kram who conducted two concerts in Amiens and Villers Bretonneux with standing ovations!

Thank you to Past President Peter Dakin for last week's reflection on Wednesday 24 April 24.
I have sad news to relay of the peaceful passing of former distinguished member Bill Charlton on Monday evening.
If you attend this week's Rotary Melbourne meeting and presentation of the Monash Medal to the Hon Josh Frydenberg, you will receive a small blue ribbon to pin on your lapel. This reminds us of a custom that originated in 1916.

This inspirational tribute was delivered by Kevin Sheehan, President Rotary Melbourne on the 28th August 2019.
Congratulations to Peter Davis in being named a Paul Harris Fellow. Peter is admired by our Members for his dedication and "Service Above Self" and received great applause at last week's meeting.
Every year at 11 am on 11 November - the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month - we pause to remember those men and women who have died or suffered in all wars, conflicts and peace operations. This year marked the 75th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War. We were unable to mark this year's Remembrance Day by gathering together at the Shrine but thanks to Peter Davis and Major General Jim Barry, we were taken there at last week's meeting.
The Spirit of Australia Foundation have organised several events to commemorate the Battle of Amiens and Sir John Monash's leadership. Members are invited to attend any one of the events commemorating and recognising Sir John Monash our 2nd President. Click here to view the events during August 23.
The Monash Medal is awarded for - Leadership, Integrity and Service - Values of Sir John Monash and of Rotary - to an outstanding Australian who has made a significant contribution to the Australian community and beyond.
This week join us for the awarding of the Monash Medal 2018 to our Honorary Member the Hon Tim Fischer AC Chaired by Peter Davis
