"The Committee is responsible for liaising with the Melbourne City Council to ensure the preservation and maintenance of the Rotary area reserved in King’s Domain for the dedication of trees and seats honouring distinguished Rotarians.
About once each year, a dedication ceremony is held to acknowledge a visit to Melbourne of a significant member of Rotary International (RI), often the President or President Elect of RI. A plaque recording the visit is unveiled on such an occasion. Members of the Rotary club of Melbourne are welcome and encouraged to attend such a dedication ceremony.
The Melbourne City Council has recently released a draft Master Plan for the Domain Parklands for comment. The Committee has an important role in ensuring that the proposed Master Plan accommodates future Rotary dedications.
