Thank you Chair Chris Sotiropolous for his "spot on" summary of James' presentation: "Retired Captain James Nixon’s presentation, entitled “This is Your Captain Speaking” provided a rare oversight into several aviation themes. The audience received a lesson on how a plane takes off and emerging mental health challenges to pilots in a rapidly growing aviation market where critical decision-making impacts on increased procedural complexity.
Dovetailing the award to the Salvation Army for their sterling leadership at Gander International Airport resulting from the diversion of numerous planes due to US airspace closure on 11 September, 2001 and the Come from Away Musical, Mr. James Nixon entertained the attendees with his personal experience landing at Gander International airport during a snow storm and that of his grateful clients, a Sheikh, whose family was also diverted to Gander International Airport.
As a best-selling author, Mr. James Nixon also kindly donated several of his books to be used for fundraising activities."
