20 IN 2020!

Our goal
To encourage members to extend personal invitations to potential members with the view to recruiting 20 new members by June 30, 2020.

Are you connected with any of the following people?

  • Professionals – highly ambitious, professionally successful, middle-senior management roles, aspiring C-suite
  • C-suite – executive management within mid to large tier firms or government, public profile or expert status
  • Entrepreneurs/business owners – innovators, change-makers, industry leaders, public profile or expert status
  • Retirees – wanting to leave a legacy, looking to continue to add value to organisations and/or mentor, also includes those currently planning their retirement and looking for something to ‘retire to’.

Here are just a handful of ideas on how they can get involved:

  • Host them at a lunch and/or evening meeting to hear from esteemed speakers who are championing solutions to some of society’s most challenging issues
  • Volunteer for Secondbite at Prahran or Queen Victoria Market – a fun and easy initiative that has a huge impact
  • Invite them along to a committee meeting, particularly if they have a skillset or networks which could assist your project/s now or in the future
  • Reserve a table at the upcoming International Women’s Day breakfast and seat potential members amongst current members
  • Invite them to your next group social event so they get to know other members in a relaxed and fun environment
  • Tour and volunteer at DIK
  • Invite them to be a speaker
  • Send them our promotional flyer   Rotary_Melbourne_Welcome.pdf

What to do once they’ve experienced Rotary Melbourne

  • Continually highlight the opportunity of being involved with Rotary Melbourne and Rotary more broadly, particularly with the upcoming centenary celebrations and the International Convention in 2023
  • Capitalise on their interest early by inviting them to become a member
  • Let them know about the mentoring program for new members which helps them transition into the club and Rotary. It can take some new members up to 12 months to settle in, discover their passions and work out how best to make a difference – that’s ok, we’re here to support them!
  • Use the Expression of Interest form as an opportunity to sit down and chat with the potential member about the causes that interest them and how Rotary can help them make a difference
  • ‘Tuck them in’ - hold their hand through the application/induction process by staying in  regular contact with them, answering their questions, helping them fill out the EOI form, introducing them to people in person or via phone/email, keeping track of how their application is progressing, looking for ways to integrate them into the club even before they have been inducted, celebrating their induction with them.

Regular progress updates against the 20 in 2020 target will be provided at lunches and in the club bulletin.
If you know of someone who would make a great Rotarian and who would value the opportunities Rotary Melbourne provides, kickstart their year and get them involved!
