Dear Marion,

Invitation to attend the Rotary Club of Wellington Centennial Dinner, Monday 24 May, 2021, 5.30pm-10pm, Banquet Hall, Parliament

We would be delighted if you and other members of your club could join us at the celebratory Rotary Club of Wellington centennial dinner on Monday May 24, 2021 (5:30-10pm), at Parliament in Wellington.

In June this year, our Rotary club celebrates its centenary, and wishes to mark this significant milestone with a dinner at Parliament, hosted by the Hon. Grant Robertson, Deputy Prime Minister and Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Wellington. Tickets for the event are available at $120.00pp by following this link to Event Pronto (eventspronto.co.nz/rotarycentennial).

We are especially honored to have four superb speakers, the Hon. Grant Robertson, Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon Justice Stephen Kós, President, Court of Appeal, Shalini Guleria, Eureka Past Winner, and a “Mystery Speaker” with entertainment being provided by Jennifer Little.

Our club is the oldest in New Zealand and we are joining the Rotary Clubs of Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne and UNICEF in our centennial project, Rotary Give Every Child a Future by vaccinating 100,000 children across nine Pacific countries (Cook Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu) to protect them from rotavirus, pneumococcal disease, and cervical cancer.

Throughout its history the club has instigated some significant leading-edge community programmes. Currently, we are engaged in planting over 100,000 trees in Greater Wellington for the betterment of the community and a positive step towards addressing climate change.  We are doing so in partnership with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand and others. Nationally our club has initiated the Rotary Peace, Remembrance, and Community Forestry Trust dedicated to planting one million trees throughout New Zealand over the next three years.

We support social enterprise with our Eureka Programme in conjunction with Akina Foundation. You may also be interested to know our club is the first Rotary Club globally to be CarbonZero.

We hope you are able to join us and would appreciate your securing your ticket by 13 May 2021. You are welcome to bring others with you.

Ngā mihi nui

Rotary Club of Wellington President 2020-2021
