Sally Capp, Lord Mayor, City of Melbourne meeting 17 November

Sally Capp joined us to deliver her 4th State of the City address on 17 November.  She gave a comprehensive update on the extensive work the City of Melbourne is doing to revitalise the City after the extended lock-downs of the last 19 months.   She spoke of the innovative Community Batteries program link to energy generation at the business and household level of renewable energy.  Sally also spoke of the impact of the pandemic on the homeless and the pleasing impact of protecting homeless people with access to vacant hotel space.
Sally’s address resonated with the work of the Club’s Environmental sustainability committee and their is a common agenda which will provide exciting opportunities for collaboration.  As the Rotary International Convention in May 2023 approaches there will be many opportunities for Rotary’s contribution to the City to be recognised, through initiatives such as Rotary Park, and the Pollinator Corridor, which is being developed with input from multiple Rotary Clubs around the City.
