Reflection by Robert Fisher 30 November 22

As you may know, a small group from Rotary Melbourne attended the Centenary celebrations of our sister city Club in Osaka a couple of weeks ago. As on previous occasions, it was an uplifting experience for us to mix with fellow Rotarians not only from Japan, but also from Korea and elsewhere. We enjoyed sharing our Rotary values and principles, in the process breaking down language and cultural barriers. And we committed to working together even more closely on appropriate projects in the future.

One of the things that struck us – when we were thanking our hosts for their outstanding fellowship and organisation – was how they responded that it was their honour to have had the opportunity to look after us; indeed, they had high expectations of themselves to do it exceptionally well. And they did!

As we get closer to next year’s Rotary Convention here in Melbourne, I do hope many of you will put your hands up to volunteer in welcoming the thousands of like-minded Rotarians from all over the world who will come to our wonderful city.

For friendships in Rotary, and the opportunity to serve, we give thanks.
