The Thomas Baker Oration Committee is thrilled to receive acceptance by Professor Sharon Lewin AO of our invitation to be the Orator for the 2023 Thomas Baker Oration. Professor Lewin is the Director of the Doherty Institute and a past recipient of the Rotary Melbourne Vocational Service Award in 2021. She is an infectious diseases physician who is renowned for her work on HIV and lately in the Covid-19 response. Her challenge now is to help create therapeutics to treat the next global pandemics that will impact the world. Melbourne and Australia are becoming leading global researchers for viruses due to the experience and capability of our medical research precincts. It will be a fascinating presentation.
