About this event

The City of Melbourne have committed to becoming a zero carbon city by 2040. To achieve this, a minimum of 80 existing commercial buildings need to be retrofitted each year. This is a challenging task and City of Melbourne is supporting building owners to retrofit their buildings in an effective, efficient and commercially responsible way. A pathway to support these efforts has been developed through our Zero Carbon Buildings for Melbourne Discussion paper.

The first recommendation is to work with industry partners and create a thought leaders series to support knowledge sharing. This launch event of the series will be hosted by the Lord Mayor Sally Capp with JLL Australia, a global real estate services firm specialising in commercial property and investment management, and will focus financing zero carbon retrofits.

What will be covered:

• How to create feasible, well-resourced, zero carbon retrofit strategies that will protect and grow the capital value of your buildings
• The technical delivery of a zero carbon ready building, focusing on opportunities and practicalities
• How to protect the value of your assets through upgrades and to attract and retain environmental, social and governance (ESG) committed tenants and what competitive sustainable finances are available to help deliver retrofits
• Hear the different perspectives from a panel of speakers featuring owners, tenants, managers and engineers.
