Welcome New Member - Ann Fazakerley

Mrs Ann Fazakerley was inducted on 1 March 2023 as a designee of new corporate member, Bionics Institute. Ann will be a member of the Central 2 Group.

Ann joined the Bionics Institute as Head of Philanthropy in April 2021.

Ann was previously Director of Advancement for Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Melbourne and was part of the Believe campaign to raise $1 billion and engage 100,000 alumni.

Before moving to Australia, Ann was Director of External Relations at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, responsible for fundraising, marketing, public engagement, student recruitment, alumni relations and commercialisation.  She led a project to educate 2 million children in West Africa about the Ebola crisis at the height of the 2009/10 pandemic, using West African soccer players to help write and promote a children’s cartoon book, which was published and shipped to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone using philanthropic funds.

While working in Scotland as a freelance international marketing specialist, she worked as Commercial Director of a social enterprise, supplying shelter through international NGOs to people living in slums and refugee camps in Asia and East Africa.

Ann’s earlier career spanned a variety of international sales and marketing roles in industry, in sectors including electronics, polymers, display equipment, renewable energy, textiles and housing.

Ann has lived and worked in several countries, including France, Switzerland, Italy, the USA and the UK, and now Australia.

Ann is very interested in the intersection between business and philanthropy for social impact. She has a BA (Honours) in French from Durham University and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh Management School.
