Tony Pearce, Victoria's Inspector-General for Emergency Management & Chair Emergency Services Foundation.

Tony Pearce is the Chairman of the Board of the Emergency Services Foundation of Victoria, a not for profit organization which brings together Victoria’s  emergency services agencies to protect the mental health and welfare of those who serve within those agencies.  Emergency Services personnel were particularly impacted by their involvement in recent bushfires and floods.

Tony briefed the club on a wonderful event, Tony’s Trek, that Tony is undertaking across Victoria.

Championed by our Club’s Peter Hanlon, Rotary Melbourne’s support and participation was approved in June 2022 by the Community Welfare Committee.

Rotary Melbourne has engaged the support and participation by Clubs of Districts 9790 and 9820 on the route of the walk which mirrors a similar walk in 2018 by former Police Commissioner Graeme Ashton, who acknowledged the major contribution that Rotary clubs across Victoria made to its success.

We will follow his progress and see him on his return to Melbourne.

Funds raised from Tony’s Trek will be used to enable ESF to deliver its prevention-focused mental health initiatives, those currently under consideration include – a Lived Experience Program, a Pilot Residential Wellbeing Program, and an ambitious research program.
