Last Week's Meeting Wednesday 26 April 2023

At the meeting on Wednesday 26 April the Guest Speaker was Alexandra Badenoch, Former Telstra Group Executive, Transformation, Communications & People and she spoke on the topic of ‘Post Pandemic Workplace Transformation and the Future of Work’

Carol Bond MC’d the meeting and President Adrian stepped in for an ad-hoc reflection on the relevance of ANZAC day to the Club through our Second President, Sir John Monash.  Adrian’s reflection is included in a separate article in this bulletin.

Special Updates were provided by

- Past Honorary Secretary, Russell Board on the modernisation of the Club’s charitable structure through the creation of the Rotary Melbourne PBI; and, 

- Guest of the Club Patricia Armstrong from RC Doncaster who is Global Chair of ESRAG updated members present on the Environment & Sustainability (E&S) pre-RICON events planned for Thursday 24 May:

* The ESRAG Environment Action Summit, at which two distinguished environmental experts will inspire Rotarians from around the world on significant issues and needs and the work to generate project ideas that will be consolidated into an Action Guide and shared with Clubs globally;

* The Ragtime Gathering at Melbourne’s Botanical Gardens at which Rotary Action Group members from across the globe will have the opportunity for relaxed fellowship and rub shoulders with “Rotary Royalty” - Past and future RI presidents, etc. as well.

In his announcements President Adrian congratulated Clive Hollands who celebrated. His 85th birthday.

Adrian made l mention of the successful FORaMEAL packing night at RMIT earlier this month.  He announced that District 9800 is holding a major packing day at Federation Square on the 27th May, and is calling for Volunteers to be trained as supervisors to assist.  Please contact Jo Mavros if you would like to know more. 

Adrian handed the meeting over to Past President Peter Dakin who introduced Alex Badenoch, former Telstra Group Executive, Transformation, Communications & People, who spoke on Post Pandemic Workplace Transformation and the Future of Work’.  Alex’s address gave a comprehensive presentation of the issues facing employers in a forward look at what drives the work force going forward.  She covered the complexities of three key themes:

1. Technology & Digitisation

2. Post Covid Impacts

3. Changing Societal and Employee Expectations
