Last Thursday, Peter Berg Rotary Melbourne Ambassador for Rotary SAFE Families gave an overview of the Rotary SAFE Families African Inclusive Communities Initiative to members of the Rotary Club of Eltham. The project is a partnership between Rotary Hawthorn and Rotary Melbourne. Peter’s talk preceded a presentation from Senior Sergeant Mark Van Rooyen from the Reservoir Police Station who is leading a project on Family Violence Prevention and Support in the local Indigenous Community. A connection was made at the meeting between the Rotary SAFE Families program and the work that the Victoria Police are engaged in on family violence which will be followed up with Senior Sergeant Van Rooyen.
