At the changeover for outgoing Rotary District 9800 Governor Amanda Wendt, the special People of Action Peace Award for our Peace Bell project was awarded to Rotary Melbourne which looks to spread across the world. Rotary Melbourne member David Carruthers was recognised as a Champion of Change.
One other member recognised was Rob McGuirk for his indefatigable work on the Peace Bells. Rob was awarded the Foundation Service Award - For outstanding service in promoting The Rotary Foundation and its goal of world understanding and peace
The note from district writes:
Congrats Adrian and Melbourne on your People of Action ‘Together we promote peace’ recognition: creating a public installation of 4 peace bells in Rotary Melbourne Peace Park; commemorating the four steps to peace: seek peace within, make peace at home, create peace in your community, and foster peace between peoples and lands. The park will provide a focal point for an annual event on the club’s calendar and for peace-based celebrations in the city.
