Reflection by Ross Scholes-Robertson 27 September 23

Did anyone here go to a Grand Final before 1947??

My grand final football remembrances go back to 1947 when I was 11 years old.  As a Carlton supporter, following in my dad’s footsteps I was absolutely thrilled when we beat Essendon by a point after a late Fred Stafford goal.  Now our children and most of our grandchildren are Carlton supporters.  All of us were pleased that Carlton ended up this year so well.

Then there is another thought BLACK LIVES MATTER when I believe it should be ALL LIVES MATTER.

A more recent VOICE to me has been the song of The Seekers: - “We are one, but we are many, and from all the lands on earth we com, we share a dream and sing with one voice I AM, YOU ARE, WE ARE AUSTRALIAN”

Surely this should be our aim.

Finally, it seems appropriate for us to give thanks for good food, for our very competitive AFL Finals, and for our friendly fellowship together.
