Rotary Melbourne Around the Bay 23 Project Report

Team Rotary

The 2023 Around the Bay bike ride was a big success on Sunday 8 October 23 with neither heatwave nor storm to interfere. Participating bike riders were around 7,200 (including our 9 Team Rotary riders). Volunteers totalled 220 of which nearly 50 were provided through Rotary – probably still the biggest provider of volunteers. Our Rotary volunteers were working as Route Marshals (and Leader), Rest Area Attendants and Support and Gear (SAG) drivers. Fees from this participation will add to the funds being raised for the Smith Family's Learning for Life scholarships for kids from disadvantaged families to reach their education potential.

While numbers were lower this year, the Bicycle Network organisation operated smoothly to give participants, including some from overseas, a great adventure and a memorable fun experience.

A big thank you to all the Rotary riders and volunteers from 5 Rotary Clubs.
