Japanese Film Festival as guests of the Japanese Consulate

The Rotary Club of Melbourne was invited to the opening ceremony of the Japanese Film Festival on 23 October 2023.

The Club was represented by President Chris and Manoel Felipe Marques.

We have an enjoyable and culturally enriching experience.

The selection of the opening night film was “We’re Broke, My Lord”, by Director Mr. Tetsu Maeda. The film was a wonderfully colourful comedy laced with the values and virtues of Japanese society. For a few hours, the magnetic engagement by the leading actors and soothing gardens and landscape was mesmerising.

We thank Consul-General Shimada and his wife, Madam Kaoru Shimada.

We extend best of success for the remainder of the event and wholeheartedly recommend our members and their families to attend the festival.

President Chris also bumped into former member and Consul General Maldives Linton Lethelan.
