Reflection by Ruth Carlos Martinez 8 November 23

Peace and Hope

The subject of peace, resonate well with the primary global issue. Achieving peace in this chaotic world with countries in Europe/Middle East at war/threats of war in the Pacific, differing issues of climate change, religious conflicts, developed countries with internal political conflicts,  and more,  create disharmony all over.

Perhaps working as a volunteer even in “zoom meetings”, I have seen the ones severely affected are children and families. In this respect, the adults may step back and take the cue from children, as they  have a simplistic unique perspective on peace:  to share with those in need, standing up / a defender against bullying, which goes to show peace is not achieved by force, but understanding.

This is where I find Rotarians are good at: they work collectively as best as possible, to humanize society and create hope.

As Albert Einstein said, “Men marry women with the hope they will not change. Women marry men with the hope they will change. “ I say, We can only live in hope.
